Seasonal Programs and Special Outreaches

Thanksgiving food assistance

During the week of Thanksgiving as many as 200 food boxes are provided for low-income neighbors, senior citizens and area shut-ins. Each one is filled with the essentials to prepare a holiday meal for four people.

Mission: Christmas

Income-qualified families are invited to “shop” at our Christmas Store for gifts for their husbands, wives and children. They select from items like new toaster ovens, pajamas, wallets, basketballs, dolls and baby blankets which have been donated by compassionate individuals, groups and businesses in the community. The store opens for shopping the Monday after Thanksgiving, and the gifts selected are set aside to be wrapped by volunteers and delivered to the families’ homes on Christmas Eve, along with a food box filled with items to prepare a complete holiday meal.

No Family Forgotten

Families who are unaware assistance is available through our Christmas Store or who don’t realize they have a need until after the Store has closed aren’t forgotten. Each income-qualified family receives an item for their home and age-appropriate gifts for members of their household.

School Clothing Distribution

Income-qualified students in grades K through 6 are provided an outfit made up of items required by the Kansas City Missouri School District, including a uniform shirt and pants along with two pairs of new socks and underwear.
