Annie Chambers Giving Circle
This Circle is open to local women who have a heart for female philanthropy. It provides ongoing opportunities to invest in the lives of Kansas City women and children who turn to City Union Mission in their time of need.
Each day, women come to City Union Mission in need of food, shelter and healing. Providing a meal feeds their weary bodies, but healing a hurting soul takes time. What if you could support the long-term care of other women who need to recover from homelessness?
Our History
Annie Chambers was once known as the “Midwest’s Queen of the Red Light.” With the salvation of Annie came an investment in City Union Mission and an expansion of our Ministry.
This legacy of female philanthropy and service inspired us to start the Annie Chambers Giving Circle, an association for women to help women.
Our Mission
The Annie Chambers Giving Circle’s mission aligns with that of City Union Mission, as an evangelical Christian ministry committed to sharing the gospel and meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of women and children who are facing poverty and homelessness.
Our Vision
The Annie Chambers Giving Circle desires to equip each member to be a productive volunteer and advocate for women and children throughout the Kansas City metro area.
HOW TO JOIN – Calling all women!
- Donate $50 monthly or $600 annually to City Union Mission
- Volunteer once a month or more
The members agree to volunteer a minimum of once each month, whether it is onsite or explore other creative off-site opportunities throughout City Union Mission.

“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
~ 1 Timothy 6:18–19

Circle of Centurions
City Union Mission invites you to join our “Circle of Centurions,” a group of men designed to band together in support of the Mission through giving and service on our campus here in Kansas City. And beyond that, City Union Mission wants to invest in you, by spending time in God’s word at least twice a month through ongoing devotional series designed specifically for men.
Centurions were officers in the army who commanded 100 men. They were rugged warriors, tested and true, who stood on the front line, leading men into battle. As City Union Mission prepares to celebrate 100 years of service to the homeless and poor, we’re looking for 100 men in the Kansas City area to join our “Circle of Centurions.” Would you band with other men on the front lines through your giving and service in support of God’s work at City Union Mission?
Your Involvement
- Each Centurion pledges to give a minimum donation of $50 a month or $600 annually in support of City Union Mission.
- Centurions pledge to volunteer at least once quarterly at City Union Mission. Volunteer opportunities may include serving meals at our rescue shelter, working at our Christmas Store during the holiday season, being involved in service projects with other Centurions, etc., as you fulfill your volunteer commitment.
- Centurions will have the opportunity to be part of an ongoing devotional series produced by City Union Mission and sent to you by email twice monthly.
Prayer
As we study the attributes in our bi-monthly video devotionals, the same series will also be made available to the men currently in our Christian Life Program. You will be encouraged to pray for those men as their newly found life in Christ begins and continues. A monthly newsletter specifically for Centurions will also include ways that you can pray for City Union Mission.
Devotional Series
At City Union Mission, our commitment is to invest in you as you invest in City Union Mission. Our first series will be titled Love God, Love Sports, and focuses on 21 attributes of a godly man. The series uses athletes and sports events to highlight a specific attribute in each episode, and is designed to help each of us become more Christ-like and draw closer to God. Each episode is seven to 10 minutes long and will include questions to challenge you. While many of us have a passion for sports, we need to make sure that our relationship with God always finishes first in our lives.
