Every day, we meet people who are carrying more than most can see, the weight of uncertainty, addiction, grief, loneliness, or fear.
At City Union Mission, we hold fast to this promise from Jesus.
Not just as a verse… but as a lifeline.
We offer more than shelter.
We offer space to breathe.
A place to begin again.
A path toward healing, guided by grace.
Whether someone walks through our doors for a warm meal or enters one of our long-term programs for life transformation, they are met with love, dignity, and the deep rest that only Christ can provide.

This summer, many children and youth are heading down to the Ozarks, stepping into a time they’ll never forget, a time full of fun, friendship, and the life-changing love of Jesus.
As camp continues, we ask for your prayers:
For safety, joy, and transformation in the lives of every camper
For strength, wisdom, and encouragement for our volunteers and staff
For open hearts that every child would encounter God’s deep love and leave knowing they are seen, valued, and never alone
We believe Camp CUMCITO is holy ground — a place where stories shift and hope takes root.
Thank you for lifting this ministry up in prayer. Your faithfulness makes a difference. 💛

Amber’s journey from addiction and homelessness to healing and hope is a testament to God’s redeeming power.
Through City Union Mission’s New Life Program, she reclaimed her life, reunited with her daughter, and built a new future, one filled with purpose, faith, and love.
Today, she’s clean, married, and chasing her dream of becoming a nurse. 💛

Our recent Camp CUMCITO Christian Life Program retreat was a powerful time of connection, growth, and breakthrough for the men in our recovery program.
From fishing and boating under clear skies to indoor games and deep fellowship during the rain, every moment pointed back to one truth: community happens wherever hearts are open.
Throughout the week:
Walls came down and men began to truly connect
Chapel messages from Rod and Derek Handley called them to live with courage and faith
Team challenges built trust, scripture memory, and servant-heartedness
And most importantly—two men gave their lives to Christ! 🙌
These moments matter. They echo far beyond camp and into lasting life change.
Huge thanks to Travis Bradburn, Rick DeHaan, and our amazing camp cook Sandy for making it all possible.
There is room for transformation in every story—and at Camp CUMCITO, we saw it firsthand.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
Every person who walks through our doors carries something incredible, God`s promise that they are destined for good things. Not because of where they`ve been, but because of who God says they are.
The man learning job skills in our program? God has plans to prosper him.
The woman working toward stability? God has given her hope and a future.
The child finding safety in our family shelter? God`s plans for them are good.
At City Union Mission, we get to witness what happens when people discover they`re not defined by their circumstances, they`re defined by God`s promises. We serve alongside each guest, knowing that transformation isn`t just possible, it`s God`s plan.
There is room for transformation in every single story because God has already written the ending. 💙

Our staff are more than team members, they are the heart of the Mission.
Every day, they show up with compassion, strength, and unwavering faith to serve those in need. By highlighting their stories, we get to honor the people behind the ministry, the ones who make hope, healing, and transformation possible.
We are happy to introduce Dale Reed, LMCC Guest Coordinator.
Dale Reed brings warmth, joy, and a contagious positive spirit to the L. Minor Care Center. Known for his kindness, great sense of humor, and genuine fellowship, Dale has quickly become a favorite among our guests and team since joining us in April.
Growing up deaf, Dale connects deeply with those he serves, especially through his work on the Transport team. Guests light up when they see him, and his upbeat energy makes everyone feel valued.
One of the most moving moments we experience is watching Dale sign his prayers to the Lord.
His passionate devotion is a beautiful testament to his faith and to the calling God has placed on his life.
We’re so grateful for Dale’s heart for the Mission and for every life he touches here.

Last Month, our City Union Mission family gathered to honor the life and service of Iver McSwine—a man who served our country and walked alongside our guests with such heart, even while facing his own challenges.
In a beautiful service filled with hope and the Gospel message, we celebrated not just Iver`s military service, but his commitment to serving others.
Iver`s legacy reminds us that we`re all called to serve alongside one another, finding hope and purpose even in life`s most difficult seasons.
We`re grateful for the opportunity to honor Iver. 🙏

Summer is in full swing and we`re asking our community to join us in prayer. 🙏
While summer brings relief from winter`s harsh cold, it also brings unique challenges for our homeless neighbors. From extreme heat and storms to increased health concerns, there is an ongoing need for safe, cool shelter, food, water, and hope.
We`re praying for each person facing homelessness in Kansas City. We pray that they would find not just physical relief, but a transformation that comes through encountering God`s love.
Would you join us in prayer?
🙏 For our homeless neighbors—for their safety, health, and hope
🙏 For our team—for wisdom, energy, and compassionate hearts
🙏 For our community—that we`d be equipped to meet the needs before us
🙏 For transformation—that lives would be changed for eternity
Together, we believe God is writing stories of redemption. Let`s lift up these prayers as one body of Christ.
