Dr. Terry Megli is the Chief Executive Officer of City Union Mission. Terry brings a rich background of over 10 years of leadership in the retail and manufacturing sector prior to joining the Mission in January of 2000 as a Youth Coordinator. Since then, Terry has earned a Doctorate in Ministry, was an Adjunct Professor for seven years and Site Supervisor for Counseling Interns. He has held numerous positions within the Mission as Youth Administrator, New Life Program Administrator and Family Ministries Director. Since 2000, Terry has displayed a passion for the godly development of people and ministry while advancing the good news of Jesus Christ.

• Adjunct Professor, MA Online instructor for Organizational Leadership classes, developed Substance Use Disorder classes for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, served as dissertation chairman for four Counseling Doctoral graduates.

Profession Philosophy

Terry loves sharing the hope of Christ with the staff members, program participants, shelter guests, volunteers, and donors he encounters every day. He enjoys seeing the growth and development of those who are motivated to make deep change in their lives. He seeks to demonstrate Christ-centered leadership through defining what needs improvement; being “solution” focused; analyzing the issues and empowering others for the potential solutions while sustaining improvements to the organization. It is a pleasure and privilege to serve and meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the poor and homeless men, women, and children in the Kansas City area. Terry seeks to inspire courage by connecting people to transforming relationships and resources for deep belonging and purpose.

Lynn Johnson serves as the Chief Programs Officer of City Union Mission. Lynn celebrates 32 years of building successful program models and serving at-risk youth throughout the Greater Kansas City area. He comes to the Mission from Urban Ranger Corps where he served as Director of Operations for 10 years. Lynn has worked with some of our nation’s top nonprofit organizations, including Boys and Girls Clubs, Camp Fire and YMCA, where he’s led, managed, and designed high impact program initiatives. Lynn has built a career in the nonprofit sector as an advanced program, organizational and operational management expert. He’s instituted programming best practices nationwide into at-risk neighborhoods of Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX and Orlando, FL. Lynn’s focus is on building the capacity of the Mission to successfully deliver high quality programs and services that will directly impact people’s lives. He’s committed to creating caring pathways that lead to life-long success for the farthest reached of our city.

 

 

Mike Fields serves as the Chief Officer of Physical Operations at City Union Mission.  Mike joined the Mission in July 2022 as the Executive Director of Physical Operations and moved into his current role in October. Mike has worked in the field of event and facility management for over 25 years. He has been involved with a variety of facility development projects to include Olympic biathlon and cross-country trails, an Olympic speedskating and ice area, Olympic boxing and wrestling gyms and most recently he was on the team that designed and built the Olathe Community Center.  Mike is a graduate of Emporia State University (MSE) and the University of Kansas (BSE).  His focus will be on internal customer service and adding value to the Mission through infrastructure management.

 

Kevin Gabriel is the Chief Financial Officer of City Union Mission, joining the organization in 2020.  Kevin is an experienced financial and accounting professional, having served as a Plant Controller, Finance Manager, Director of Finance, Regional Controller and AVP Operations, in a variety of industries, with small privately owned businesses to large publicly owned corporations.  He is a graduate of the University of Kansas (BSBA), the University of Missouri-Kansas City (MBA) and Dallas Theological Seminary (MABS). Kevin’s focus is on adding value to City Union Mission through solid business acumen, healthy relationships and personal integrity.

Mark Rondeau is the Chief Information Officer for City Union Mission. Mark was hired in 2015 into City Union Mission’s IT department. He comes with extensive experience in the world of information technology. Mark was promoted to the Director of IT within a few years and now holds the position as the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Mark is experienced in VMWare, Windows Server, Active Directory, Desktop Support, MS Office Suite, Call Center Management just to name a few.

Mark is a great asset to City Union Mission, is a team player and has elevated the Information Technology to a whole new level.

Debbie Mance serves as the Human Resource Director at City Union Mission.  She has served the organization for 32 years, with 23 of those years working in HR, where she was integral in structuring and building the department.  Her journey with the Mission began as a volunteer in Community Assistance and at Camp CUMCITO for 7 years before becoming a full-time employee, where she then worked as a Case Manager and Food Service Director. Prior to coming to the Mission, Debbie owned her own business. She loves working and serving at the Mission and never imagined what God was going to do when He called her to this mission field all those years ago.

 

Leanna Uniak serves as the Executive Creative Director at City Union Mission. Leanna has been working in multimedia, eLearning and creative design for over 20 years. At the University of Kansas Health System, as Sr. Instructional Designer she created courses to support clinical education, Human Resources and was a member of the Human Resources Transformation team. She has also worked as a contractor for the United States Army for the Command and General Staff College, aiding in the convenience of distance learning for Officers and above. Leanna proudly works and serves as an award-winning visual creator and collaborator of Brand Identity at City Union Mission, using her skills to help bring hope and a bright future for the homeless in Kansas City.
