Since 1924, we’ve offered hope to men, women and children struggling with huge challenges. Homelessness. Addiction. Poverty.
We start by extending a welcoming hand and helping to meet their immediate needs – food, shelter, clothing.
From there, we offer them a new foundation for their lives through Christ – and life-changing programs that move them toward physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness.
Needs met. Lives transformed.
It’s only possible because of your support!

Explore the Mission’s history, who works here, and discover how the Mission ministers to the poor and homeless in our community through its programs and services.
Just over a year ago, Jenna Garvin joined City Union Mission as a Career Specialist where she brought her passion for coaching and empowering others into the heart of our Christian Life Program.
During her time in this role, she walked alongside men in our long-term recovery program by helping them to prepare to re-enter the workforce with confidence, dignity and renewed purpose.
We`re thrilled to celebrate Jenna`s new role as Vocational Development Supervisor, where she now leads the entire Vocational Development team.
"I`m passionate about being an agent of change in others` lives and spurring them to grow,"
Jenna, thank you for being a light at the Mission. The work you to plants seeds of hope and we are grateful for your dedication.

🌿 "Let us not grow weary in doing good..." – Galatians 6:9 🌿
To those who keep showing up.
Who serve, give, and love—year after year.
Who quietly meet needs, pray faithfully, and believe in transformation...
This verse is for you.
At City Union Mission, we’ve seen how your steady hands and open heart have sown seeds of hope. And while the fruit may not always come right away, it does come. Lives are being changed—because you didn’t give up.
Thank you for staying the course. Your faithful service is making an eternal difference.

This week, we’re lifting up our city in prayer. 🕊️
With every challenge we face—violence, division, hardship—we believe in the power of prayer to bring hope and healing. The Word reminds us:
“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray… then I will hear from heaven… and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
Let’s come together and ask God to heal our city.
Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus—serving, loving, and standing in the gap.
🙏 Will you pray with us today?

🇺🇸 On June 14th, we celebrated Flag Day and the U.S. Army`s 250th birthday at our L. Minor care center with hearts full of gratitude.
We transformed our front garden into a peaceful sanctuary for rest and reflection.
We`re deeply honored to serve the veterans in our community, with veterans both on our staff and among our guests. Our healing-centered approach goes beyond traditional care—every interaction affirms dignity, builds connection, and nurtures hope.
For the vulnerable veterans and community members who walk through our doors, we strive to be a place of genuine hospitality, safety, and renewal.
To our veterans: thank you for your service. You deserve spaces that honor your journey and support your healing. We`re here for you. 💙

Did you know Kansas City has the highest rate of unsheltered chronic homelessness in the nation?
💔 95.7% of chronically homeless individuals here are living without shelter.
This is not just a number—it represents our neighbors and our community.
At City Union Mission, we believe no one should be left behind. Every day, we provide safe shelter, hot meals, mental and spiritual care, and long-term programs that help men, women, and families find lasting hope and healing.
But we can’t do it alone.
👉 You can be part of the solution.
Pray. Volunteer. Donate. Advocate. Show up.
Together, we can turn the tide—and make Kansas City a place where everyone has a place to belong.

“May 27, 2024—Josh smoked his last cigarette.”
After nearly 30 years of addiction, Josh found freedom—not through willpower alone, but through the grace of God and the compassionate care he received at City Union Mission.
Even in his struggle, he was welcomed, mentored others, and found encouragement—not judgment.
One guest’s honest words sparked a turning point: “It’s hard to be inspired by someone still fighting the same fight.”
With prayer, a supportive team, and a step of faith, Josh let go of addiction and stepped into his new life.
This is what God’s love looks like in action—transforming brokenness into purpose.
👉 If you or someone you love is facing addiction or hardship, reach out.
There’s a place for you at City Union Mission—where hope lives, healing begins, and no one walks alone.

At City Union Mission, we see this truth lived out every day.
Many who walk through our doors come carrying the weight of brokenness—hurt, addiction, loss, or hopelessness. But in God’s hands, even the most shattered pieces can become part of a greater story.
Whether you’re someone who gives, serves, or has walked the journey yourself—you are part of that story.
Because healing happens when we show up for one another, not with perfection, but with compassion, humility, and hope.
God is using all of us—cracks and all—to bring light into the darkness.

This Father’s Day, our hearts were full. 💙
We were grateful for the opportunity to honor the fathers at the Mission and make sure they felt seen, valued, and respected.
Thanks to the generosity of Faith Community, the men at L. Minor Care were celebrated and encouraged on a day that can be difficult for many.
Your kindness made a lasting impact.

This week, we’re lifting up the heart of our Mission—our incredible staff.
Behind every meal served, every bed made, every prayer offered, is a team of men and women who show up with compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication.
They are the hands and feet of Christ, creating peace, safety, and stability for our guests every single day.
To our staff: We see you. We thank you. We’re praying over you this week—asking God to renew your strength, fill your hearts, and bless the work you do.
Will you join us in covering them in prayer?
