Needs Met. Lives Transformed.

Serving Our City’s Homeless & Hurting

Since 1924, we’ve offered hope to men, women and children struggling with huge challenges. Homelessness. Addiction. Poverty.

We start by extending a welcoming hand and helping to meet their immediate needs – food, shelter, clothing.

From there, we offer them a new foundation for their lives through Christ – and life-changing programs that move them toward physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness.

Needs met. Lives transformed.

It’s only possible because of your support!

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

Every person who walks through our doors carries something incredible, God's promise that they are destined for good things. Not because of where they've been, but because of who God says they are.

The man learning job skills in our program? God has plans to prosper him.
The woman working toward stability? God has given her hope and a future.
The child finding safety in our family shelter? God's plans for them are good.

At City Union Mission, we get to witness what happens when people discover they're not defined by their circumstances, they're defined by God's promises. We serve alongside each guest, knowing that transformation isn't just possible, it's God's plan.

There is room for transformation in every single story because God has already written the ending. 💙

Summer is in full swing and we're asking our community to join us in prayer. 🙏

While summer brings relief from winter's harsh cold, it also brings unique challenges for our homeless neighbors. From extreme heat and storms to increased health concerns, there is an ongoing need for safe, cool shelter, food, water, and hope.

We're praying for each person facing homelessness in Kansas City. We pray that they would find not just physical relief, but a transformation that comes through encountering God's love.

Would you join us in prayer?

🙏 For our homeless neighbors—for their safety, health, and hope
🙏 For our team—for wisdom, energy, and compassionate hearts
🙏 For our community—that we'd be equipped to meet the needs before us
🙏 For transformation—that lives would be changed for eternity

Together, we believe God is writing stories of redemption. Let's lift up these prayers as one body of Christ.

This 4th of July, we celebrate freedom—including the freedom that comes when our community transforms lives together. 🇺🇸

For 100+ years, Kansas City has been home to stories of hope and redemption.

Today we honor everyone who serves alongside us, helping write the most powerful stories of transformation our city has ever seen.

Together, we're pointing our city toward hope. There's room for transformation in every single story. 🎆

Did you know July is National Anti-Boredom Month? 🤔

While summer makes it tempting to stay cool and take it easy, we're inviting you to fill these warm weeks with something that transforms both your summer AND someone's life.

At City Union Mission, we don't just need volunteers, we need partners ready to serve alongside us. Whether you're serving meals, or praying for someone, you'll discover that serving others has a way of filling your own cup too.

We are always looking for people who want to meet our neighbors in need of hope exactly where they are and walk alongside them.

What happens when Survivor winner Danni Boatwright steps into the kitchen with Chef Dempsy at City Union Mission?
A whole lot of heart... and some serious flavor.

Every meal we serve here at the Mission is made with care, compassion, and purpose—because food is more than nourishment. It’s dignity. It’s hope. It’s a step toward healing.

We couldn’t do this without the faithful support of volunteers and generous donors like you.
Thank you for helping us feed both body and soul.
