Since 1924, we’ve offered hope to men, women and children struggling with huge challenges. Homelessness. Addiction. Poverty.
We start by extending a welcoming hand and helping to meet their immediate needs – food, shelter, clothing.
From there, we offer them a new foundation for their lives through Christ – and life-changing programs that move them toward physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness.
Needs met. Lives transformed.
It’s only possible because of your support!

Quarterly at City Union Mission, we celebrate Spiritual Emphasis Week, a time of revival for our CLP staff and participants.
The focus? Staying rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 🌿
Our theme came from John 15: Abiding in Christ, and Chaplain Emmanuel Bythfia reminded us that life and strength come when we stay connected to the vine.
💙 Spiritual growth is a key part of transformation here at the Mission, and it’s part of how we’ve been making an impact for 101 years.

✨Meet Codie! ✨
As the Intake Specialist at our Women & Family Center, Codie is often the very first face our guests see, a face of compassion, kindness, and Christ’s love.
"I get to welcome every woman who walks through our doors with open arms, a listening ear, and a peaceful place to rest. My office has even been lovingly nicknamed ‘the crying room’ because it’s where burdens begin to lift and hearts can finally exhale."
Codie’s own journey with Jesus began in childhood, but it wasn’t until 10 years ago that she picked up a Bible and stepped into a church. Since then, her walk with Christ has shaped every part of how she serves with intentionality, joy, and deep compassion.
Every guest tour, intake conversation, and comforting embrace is about more than process, it’s about restoring dignity and inviting each woman into healing and hope.
Help us continue this life-changing work.

✨ From the streets of Kansas City to leading at our shelter for men, Anthony’s story is one of redemption and hope.
For years, he struggled with homelessness, searching for a way forward. At City Union Mission, Anthony discovered that setbacks weren’t the end of his story, but the beginning of transformation.

After many months apart, we finally reunited with our beloved Ladies Bible Study group for a joyful picnic!
This was a long-overdue moment of reconnection, encouragement, and love.
Thanks to the generosity of Bill Gray, the ladies enjoyed delicious sandwiches and desserts.
Case Manager, Travis Strong, led us in heartfelt worship, and staff member Amanda Defreese shared a powerful devotional reminding us to draw near to God and keep our eyes on Him, no matter the season.
We shared gifts, laughter, and stories under the beautiful skies the Lord provided. Most of all, we reminded these women that they are seen, known, and deeply loved.
💛 You can help continue this ministry of encouragement and hope.
Your support makes gatherings like this possible.

As we move into the final months of 2025, we’re asking our community to come together in prayer.
📖 Pray for strength for our guests, our staff, and every individual seeking hope and healing.
🍞 Pray for resources to meet growing needs with compassion and excellence.
🕊️ Pray for endurance that we may continue to be a light in the darkness for those experiencing homelessness.
We know the road ahead won’t be easy, but we trust in a God who provides.
Will you join us in lifting this work up in prayer?

The average life span of a person experiencing homelessness is up to 17.5 years shorter than the general population, some living only to age 46, compared to the national average life expectancy.
Behind that number is a story. A soul. A person created in God’s image.
At City Union Mission, we believe every life is worth fighting for. With your help, we provide shelter, medical care, meals, and the hope of lasting transformation.
