City Union Mission employees must be born-again, mature Christians, able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. They must have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to the homeless and the poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

Comprehensive Christian Recovery Counselor
Provide family, therapeutic, substance abuse, and general counseling to men, couples, and male youths living at City Union Mission. This is a shared position with a flexible schedule determined weekly by counselor. Clients serviced are participants in the New Life Program, Men's Christian Life Program, Men's L Minor Care Center,
Men’s Shelter and Vanderberg Youth Center.
- Be able to lead others into spiritual maturity, model Christ-like behavior, and have a good knowledge of the Scriptures.
- Have a Master’s degree in counseling or social work.
- Be licensed or have credentials in Christian counseling, substance abuse or addiction recovery.
- Must be able to understand and adhere to policies listed in the CUM Staff Policy Manual.
