TUESDAY DECEMBER 24
City Union Mission to Deliver Thousands of Christmas Gifts to Low-Income Families Throughout Kansas City
As many as 280 driver volunteers will deliver thousands of wrapped gifts to more than 1,000 metro-area families who selected gifts at City Union Mission’s Christmas Store, part of the ministry’s 2019 Mission Christmas outreach. Through the outreach, City Union Mission aims to keep “Christ” in Christmas by reaching out with God’s love and compassion to serve those in need in the Kansas City community. As part of the delivery, each household will also receive a frozen turkey and a food basket filled with items to prepare a complete holiday dinner.
Tuesday, December 24, 8 AM to Noon
Drivers will arrive, load and depart from the Mission’s Christmas Store located at the Community Assistance Center:
1700 E. 8th Street, Kansas City, MO
OPEN TO MEDIA: The media are invited to attend the Christmas distribution activities between 8:30 AM & 10:30 AM for story and photo opportunities. There will be designated parking on the west side of the building (on the curb facing north) for media vehicles. Mission officials will also be available for interviews and to answer questions.
Through the 2019 Mission Christmas outreach, which includes the Christmas Store and No Family Forgotten, the Mission expects to provide as many as 12,000 gifts. In addition to the income-qualified families who will receive presents through the delivery on December 24, gifts will also be provided to the men, women and children in the Mission’s shelters, as well as participants in the Mission’s Vanderberg Youth Center and residents of local nursing homes.
