VOLUNTEER COMMITMENTS

Our High Impact Volunteers are called by God and committed to serve in a particular volunteer position. To embrace the Mission’s volunteer ministry objectives, High Impact Volunteers also need to have these commitments:

COMMITMENT TO CHRIST

Sharing the Gospel is the core of the purpose of City Union Mission; therefore a volunteer must have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

COMMITMENT TO THE LOCAL CHURCH

A volunteer should be a part of a body of believers within the community. Involvement with the City Union Mission volunteer network may provide spiritual growth and fellowship, but that involvement should not become a substitution for commitment to a local church.

COMMITMENT TO CITY UNION MISSION

A volunteer must share the purpose of City Union Mission, as stated in its mission statement. A volunteer also must agree with the mission’s statement of faith.

COMMITMENT TO WORK WITH OTHERS FROM DIFFERENT CHRISTIAN TRADITIONS

City Union Mission draws its support from people in many different churches; therefore, a volunteer must be able to work with Christians from different denominations.

COMMITMENT TO TEAMWORK

A cooperative attitude, in the unity of Christ, is imperative within the whole organization in order for it its purpose to be met.

COMMITMENT TO COOPERATE WITH CITY UNION MISSION SUPERVISION

A volunteer must be willing to cooperate with the direct supervisor of the ministry area.

COMMITMENT TO SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

A volunteer must meet any specialized qualifications particular to a specific ministry position.
